    Personality: 
    With a fiery personality and vulgar sense of humor, it's very easy for Kain to come across as the 'in your face' type almost as soon as you meet him. While not outgoing, he tends to be louder and speaks his mind more often than not - and with an 'in the moment' mindset like his, this has gotten him into more than a few scuffles before. He doesn't seek out conflict, but being as scrappy and hot headed as he is, he doesn't back down from a fight once it's been introduced to him. It's not that he prefers to keep his distance from others, there are just not many people that he would like to be around that seem to connect with him. Without showing it often, he's also got more of a loving side to him, which tends to show in his over-use of his cell phone to keep in touch with those he cares about back home, and his glaring weakness for children. Those that he considers to be close to him are on the top of his list to protect, and should they be put into a bad situation, he'll often fight tooth and nail to help them out.
    Despite his incredibly laid back attitude, when given a task that he deems important, he becomes incredibly straight forward in having it completed. When attacking a task head on, he shows a side of himself that he doesn't often introduce to people. He becomes dead set on reaching the finish line, taking the job very seriously and going to any lengths he sees fit to reach the goal. In situations like this, his penchant for studying into things comes very much in handy, even if once the job is done, it's very likely that most of the information will go right back out the window. If something shouldn't go his way in situations like this, then his mood is much more likely to sour.

    Kain's power - Vocal Hypnosis - gives him the ability to entrance and manipulate others with his voice, so long as he's keeping up a tune, rhythm, and/or rhyme. Should Kain be unable to focus, the trance will be broken.

• Humming - Open's the chosen person's mind to being manipulated by the spoken ideas and plans of a third party.

  • This power is influenced by Kain's Mental Health vs. The Entranced Person's Mental Health, as well as how high the Third Party's Charm is. The higher the Third Party's and Kain's respective stats are, the more likely this is to be a success.

• Rapping - Allows Kain the ability to have an interrogation with the entranced in which they must give truthful answers. Likewise, they answer in a similar style to Kain, as if rapping with him.

  • This power is influenced by Kain's Mental Health vs. The Other's Mental Health. The higher Kain's respective stat, the more information he will get out of the one being interrogated. This only allows Kain to get answers that the one being interrogated believes to be truthful. This ability can only be used when some form of rhythm keeper is being used (ie. Metronome, Ticking Clock, etc.)

• Singing - Gives Kain the ability to control somone's physical movements in real time, giving him nearly full reign over where they go, what they do, or what they say.

  • This power is influenced by Kain's Mental Health vs. The Other's Mental Health. The higher Kain's respective stat, the more he will be able to make them do. When the one being controlled doesn't wish to do something, it becomes more difficult for Kain to control them. Kain cannot force someone into a situation that the one being controlled inherently knows is life threatening. Forcing them to injure themselves - including death - is impossible.

    Background: 

    Growing up in the western area of Boston, Massachusetts as an old child, Kain's recollection of his childhood holds fond memories for the neighborhood and community that he grew up with – despite his childhood being far from perfect and carrying with it it's own set of special circumstances that tested his resolve. At birth he had been assigned female – and lived much of his young life as the daughter to separated parents. His father worked a full time job, often leaving Kain home alone unless his mother – divorced from his father – had time to visit.

    In his earlier years, Kain was known for his poor reactions to frustration and his penchant for throwing temper tantrums when things wouldn't go his way. Despite the hopes from his parents, his temperament didn't ease with age; Instead, by the time he started middle school, he was known as a problem child – reoccurring fights and occasional truancy becoming common reasons for detention slips to be held out. It was at this point that both of his parents came up with an idea to curb his unruly ways.

    At the recommendation of a counselor, Kain picked up a guitar for the first time at the age of 15. Two years later, he had joined a small aspiring bunch of musicians, agreeing to start a band once they had all graduated from high school. His record at the time, though not perfect, was drastically better than it had been just a few years prior. It was in this span of time – while nearing adulthood that Kain began to question things about himself – or rather that he began to understand himself better. It was around this time that Kain had chosen his new name – his current name – and told others to refer to him as 'he'.

    After graduation, the beginning of his musical career finally began. The small band that he was in began playing in small cafes and at festivals, but it didn't take very many small time gigs for something to end up going wrong. During a live show, it seemed that a stage light had been loose somehow. It fell, clocking Kain directly on the top of the head, and stopping the show in it's tracks.

    He was taken to the hospital with a concussion, multiple lacerations, and heavy bleeding. The injury looked worse than it was, but it stopped Kain's On Stage Career in it's tracks. He quit the band, a lingering unease at the very thought of being on stage pushing him to make the choice.

    The injuries themselves were easy to heal, but it took more than a few weeks before Kain contemplating playing again. It was his father that put the idea of busking into his head. Playing in a public park for money, a good way to get back into the game.

    It was simple at first, he only played his guitar, taking requests and earning handouts while he looked for a main job. It wasn't until he sang, at the request of a passerby, that something was obviously wrong.

    Those who passed by stopped. They stopped, and they stared with a blank look on their faces. Those who continued walking often looked back to the growing crowd, the same look of confusion from them as Kain was showing. People had never done this before, was it a prank? Some kind of joke? Whatever it had been, even they seemed unaware of it once the song ended. Some looked put off, having found themselves standing about when they had somewhere to go while others were just as baffled as those who walked by.

    And it kept happening. Again and again, whenever a song was requested with vocals there was always a crowd that would stop and stare. There would be no expressions, no tips, just a small crowd that would slowly grow until the song was over. As this continued, it only served to make Kain grow more and more uneasy. Once hired for a full time job, he stopped, and it didn't take long before people stopped asking about the strange busking incidents.

    He left his music alone once again, going about his life as normal.

    At the age of 21, Kain began transitioning.

    At the age of 23, Kain began his first long term relationship.

    It didn't take long for Kain's history with music to come up in conversation. It had been years since Kain had last played, and he had almost completely forgotten about what had caused him to quit. Still, in the hopes that it was simply an isolated incident, or even more preferred, a dream, he picked up the instrument once again.

    The outcome continued the moment he opened his mouth to sing. He almost destroyed the guitar in frustration before his boyfriend could stop him. Kain told the story between clenched teeth, a quick one, about what happened when he performed in parks back as a kid. The decision was made almost instantly by his partner – experiment, see if they could find out what it was, why it happened. An idea that they would stick to for months to come.

    Over time, they figured it out – well, most of it. It was the vocals, always the vocals, so long as there was rhythm or rhyme or notes of any kind they would do something. Anything, really, so long as he willed it.

    They did their best to try and study what it was that would happen. They tried books, and online searches, reading up on mythology and urban legends and conspiracy theories, trying to find anything they could that would lead them in the right direction. It was nearly a year later that Kain called the search off. He didn't mention that the reason was because he had found information about people born with 'special abilities'. He didn't mention that something seemed to click when he read the small amount of information he could find on it. He simply waved his hand and asked that they got on with their lives.

    He still played, and even took up learning another instrument in his spare time. But he kept his voice to himself when he could.

    Four years later, he received a letter in the mail. One detailing the accident at his last show, the busking incidents, and those born with special abilities. It told of an agency searching for people like him, for those who wish to learn, and use their abilities to their fullest extent.

    It was a long conversation with his partner that lead to the decision to go. A gentle nudge in the direction that would lead to all of the questions they've ever had being answered. The goodbye wasn't easy, but Kain still managed to pack his bags and turn towards the agency, hoping to find some explanation for those like him in the world.

    Ambition: 
   Kain seeks a better explanation and understanding of the supernatural world and those who inhabit it, as well as figure out his own skills.

Random Trivia:

• Kain makes use of his very colorful vocabulary very often. Around 'children' however (anyone that he considers younger than 'adult') he attempts to negate this by substituting curse words with 'substitutes' in ways that sound silly or dumb.

• Kain's eyesight is relatively poor. Normally he wears contacts, but you can occasionally catch him with his glasses instead depending on the time of day.

• He's far softer than he lets on, and has a knack for tearing up easily when frightened.

• Kain has a fear of large objects being held above his head. 

• Being a Bostonian, he - of course - has a Boston Accent, and it shows.
